Frequently Asked Questions

I will post more questions as they are asked.
If there's a question you'd like to ask, just text me. I'll give an honest answer or, if I don't have one, I'll find it.

Question: Why do some of your puppies' eyes have rings in them?

ANSWER: Well.... Mostly because photography is NOT my strongest suit! Our newest lighting setup is a ring light made for selfies and such. It probably isn't designed to take pictures of puppies. I'll get it figured out eventually. Maybe.

So no, our dogs do NOT have a gene that gives them white rings in their eyes, similar to what some breeds, such as Aussies, have. It's just lighting. And poor photography skills. As an aside to this, certain breeds do have that distinctive ring coloring in one, or both, eyes but it is a genetic flaw often associated with deafness, or partial deafness. (Straight from our Vet.)

Q; What is "Limited Registration", and how does it affect our puppies?

ANSWER: Dogs are registered (also called a Pedigree) two different ways. One is called Full Registration, usually something a breeder requires when purchasing one of our puppies, that allows that puppy's offspring to be registered.

Then there's Limited Registration which is paperwork showing the lineage (pedigree) of a puppy (just like full registration) but does not allow offspring to be registered. This is done to prevent people from buying a puppy as a companion animal, then turning around and breeding that dog for profit. (That's what most "puppy mills" do.) We can spay/neuter our puppies on request for a very small fee. (Our Veterinarian is pretty old school. He doesn't believe in gouging his clients, and we pass that on to our clients.)

Q; WHY DOESN'T ANYONE CONTACT ME THROUGH THE CHAT FUNCTION WHEN I VISIT YOUR SITE??

ANSWER: We get an alert every time someone visits our site. We have decided that we will not disturb a person while they are visiting, just to be respectful. If you would like to chat with us while you're on our site, by all means! We're usually available, just lurking around. Kinda creepy right? Ok, lurking isn't the best term... We're here if you need anything. We just don't want to bother people while they browse. If you do decide to chat, just be aware that it'll probably be with me (Brad) as I'm the one in charge of this hot mess that barely passes as a website. Hate to break that to you, but that's the way it sometimes goes.

Q; DO YOU SEND EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS WHEN YOU HAVE NEW LITTERS?

ANSWER: We DO NOT send out random emails. We DO NOT sell, or GIVE AWAY, your information. EVER. I get so much junk email that I firmly believe in privacy. We have no desire to betray any trust placed in us regarding your personal information. Any information you share with us will die with us. Simple as that.

If someone requests to be put on our waiting list for a certain type of puppy, whether it be a certain breed, sex, color, etc. we keep that information private. We do maintain a wait list, and we do contact customers, at their request, from time to time regarding new litters, but we DO NOT push. A simple text stating that we have a new litter with the specific trait(s) that they're looking for are present. We only follow up if we receive a response to that text. Your privacy is just as important to us as ours is. We take that very seriously. You will NEVER receive any correspondence from us unless YOU request it.

Our website design platform does incorporate a random email generator, but it is disabled. If you receive an email from us that looks suspicious, simply delete it. If you didn't request to be put on our list, we ain't gonna send you nothin', Period.

Q: WHY ARE YOUR PUPPY PRICES LOWER THAN OTHER BREEDERS/PET STORES?

ANSWER: We do occasionally sell puppies to a reputable Pet Store. We do this for a couple of reasons.

(1) Because we can...? Yes, it's that simple. Our Pet Store connection allows us to sell an entire litter at a time. Remember, we're a business too. We enjoy raising companion animals for families, but we wouldn't last very long if we gave them away. Anyone who believes we're getting rich at this should try it. It isn't our goal in life to become wealthy beyond belief. (Elon Musk's title of World's Richest Man is safe.) Having said that, I will say this: Most pet stores mark up their puppies considerably. That's their choice. We don't begrudge them wanting to make as much as they can, but we don't follow that rule. (No, we will not give the name of the Pet Store we sell to, so don't ask.)

(2) As stated above, we're not out to get rich. We do want to keep doing this for years to come. Sometimes it's better to sell a puppy at a lower price knowing we'll probably have a repeat customer or get a referral from that customer, or both. As long as we can keep our animals healthy, fed and sheltered, and maybe put some food on our table and gas in our vehicles, we're good. Life's too short to dream of being filthy rich. I wouldn't want the headaches that go with it anyway. As a general rule, we sell our puppies "out the door" for what our Pet Store pays us for them.

That price is based on what the expenses are for each breed, plus a little extra to keep us alive as well.

We're just not interested in "making a sale" at the expense of losing a potential life-long customer.

There is nothing "wrong" with our puppies. We aren't selling second rate goods. Our veterinarian does a full checkup on every single puppy we raise, and he checks them again before they leave for their new home. He wouldn't let us sell a puppy that had something wrong with it, even if we wanted to, which we don't. (He's been practicing for over 50 years. He knows a thing or two most vets don't, and he specializes in breeders.) He constantly helps us, as breeders, to be the best we can be.

I hope this answers the question. If not, just let me (Brad) know. I'll do my best to answer honestly and completely.

Q: WHY DO YOU NOT ALLOW PEOPLE INTO YOUR FACILITIES? DO YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO HIDE?

ANSWER:  Well, first and foremost, we want to keep our animals safe. Yeah, I know, that sounds like a cop-out. But it's not. Our veterinarian is pretty sharp. Like I said, he's been doing his job a long, long time. He knows more about germs and viruses, and all sorts of nastiness, than most. It's his belief that it's too easy to bring something into our facilities that could potentially wipe out the entire population without a chance to stop it and we, as well as our state and federal inspectors, agree with him. That brings me to the second part. We do not have anything to hide, and our inspectors are proof of that. We have to pass all their rules and guidelines to keep our licenses. Those are a matter of public record. I assume anyone, who wants to, can see our inspection reports. Knock yourself out. 43-A-6019 is our USDA license number.

Q: THERE'S ANOTHER SITE WITH THE SAME NAME, ENDING IN .COM. IS THAT YOU?

ANSWER: Yes. That's us. I tried to set up a website through another hosting site. it was a miserable failure. The site was difficult to update, and often it wasn't even accessible to allow me to update it. I finally gave up on it and started this one. While I was trying to link the two together, I apparently deleted the other site. Now it's not accessible at all. Just a 404 error. Good riddance. It will still come up as abccountrysidefarmdotcom because there's a link to my wife's sister's website, auntppomeranians.com We will, eventually, get all that straightened out. Maybe. I hope. (No, web design is NOT my strongest suit, but I'm trying!)

Q: Why does eveything change when I come back to your website? Things are always different or moved around!

ANSWER:  Well... Short answer is this: I'm not a webpage designer! I spend a large part of my day taking care of things away from this computer. When I get time, I update things or change them around to make it nicer to view. Again, not a web designer! Just something I (sort of) like doing. So, yeah. Mostly, it's just me messing with things!

Q: What the heck is a Shichon???

ANSWER:  A Shichon is the result of crossbreeding Shih Tzu and Bichon Frise dogs. They're also called Teddy Bears because of their fluffy coats and generally adorable appearance. They are a recognized breed of their own and have been gaining popularity for several years now. They generally have a wonderful personality and an outstanding disposition. They are easy going, fun to play with, and they absolutely love kids! They are an extremely loyal companion. (We also crossbreed Brussels Griffon and Shih Tzu on occasion, resulting in Shiffon puppies that are similar in look and disposition to Shichons. They're adorable too!)

Q: Are your dogs registered with AKC?

ANSWER:  A few of our adult dogs are registered with AKC because they were when we purchased them. Our Standard Poodles are as well. We do not register with AKC for one main reason: They are too money hungry for us! AKC wants a small fortune to register each litter, and we don't feel the benefits of registering with them outweigh the costs. We register with United All Breed Registry (UABR) for simplicity's sake. Each puppy comes with their own documentation showing their lineage, just like AKC, but at a fraction of the cost. If you want an AKC registered dog for show purposes, shop elsewhere.

If you want a perfectly healthy family companion that will bring your family years of love and joy, then you've come to the right place.
